As a part of our Seed-to-Table Programming, the Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance will award up to 10 grants averaging $3,000.00 each. Grants will be given to Indigenous-led organizations, groups, collectives, individuals, or grassroots initiatives to host a ‘Healing Meal’ project(s) that highlights locally sourced Indigenous ingredients as determined by applicant and community.

The NAFSA Healing Meals Microgrant offering is intended to provide community based food sovereignty initiatives with financial and capacity building support to provide Indigenous foods and education to the community.

A Community Healing Meal can include: community meals, food boxes, prepared food delivery or pick-up, culinary classes, or an in-person food-focused event.

The NAFSA Healing Meals Microgrant offering is intended to provide community based food sovereignty initiatives with financial and capacity building support to provide Indigenous foods and education to the community.

A community healing meal is a regional Indigenous ingredients focused meal prepared by and for our communities, with the intention of providing holistic and cultural nourishment to our peoples. NAFSA’s Healing Meals Grant Opportunity seeks to provide financial and planning support for Indigenous community organizers to craft and execute their vision of a healing meal, tailored to their community’s needs, ingredients, and traditions. This can include but is not limited to: Food Boxes, Prepared Meals, In-Person Events, Classes, or Workshops.

  • Applicant is a resident of the United States.
  • Grant application completed and submitted by deadline.
  • Proposed Healing Meal project will be hosted between the dates of March 1 – December 5, 2025.
  • Applicant is Indigenous, and/or applying on behalf of an Indigenous-led organization.
  • Proposed event highlights Indigenous ingredients, nutrition, and local producers.
  • Proposed event will provide food and/or food education at no cost to the community.
  • Proposed budget is comprehensive and achievable.
