Flagstaff, Arizona — August 1, 2024 — The Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance (NAFSA), a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring, affirming, and reclaiming Indigenous food systems, announced today the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for professional audit services for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2023.

NAFSA is inviting proposals from qualified firms of certified public accountants to conduct an audit in accordance with the auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAS). This audit is crucial for maintaining transparency and accountability in NAFSA’s operations, which support Tribal self-determination and community wellness across approximately 25 Indigenous communities annually.

Important Dates:

  • RFP Release Date: August 1, 2024
  • Proposal Submittal Due Date: August 16, 2024
  • Project Award Date: September 20, 2024
  • Fiscal Year Ending: December 31, 2023

Proposals will be accepted by email until 4:00 PM (prevailing local time) on August 16, 2024. Late submissions will be automatically rejected. The audit services are expected to include a comprehensive review of NAFSA’s financial statements in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards for financial audits contained in Government Auditing Standards, issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.

Preference in the selection process will be given to Native-owned firms, underscoring NAFSA’s commitment to supporting Indigenous businesses and professionals.
